Where can I get help with searching?

You can get help with any stage of your research process. The Academic Achievement Team is able to assist with how to plan your search strategy, defining search terms, locating which databases to use and refining or expanding search results managing references.

To get started, follow the interactive, self-paced tutorials for a basic overview of research skills:

  • Planning your Research is a 15-minute tutorial on how to set yourself up for successful research by considering what kind of information you need and how searching at university differs from everyday searching.

  •

  • Starting your Research is a 20-minute tutorial on how to define your search topic, choose your search terms, and build a search strategy.

  • Finding your Research is a 20-minute tutorial on how to search using databases, tips and tricks for effective searching, and how to filter your results.

  •

You can also book an appointment with an Academic Achievement Librarian to learn more about searching for information quickly and effectively.
